NAME (Portguese): Joao Rodrigues Cabrilho
SITE DEVELOPMENT (SIRIS): 1940, erected U.S. Naval Training Center; 1949,
limestone statue erected Cabrillo National Monument; 1966, moved to current
site of the replica at the Monument; 1985, Charters Almeida and Quintana Art
re-cut and cast replica. Original statue given to Lisbon, Portgual.
SITE DEVELOPMENT (Reed): His 1956 effort, below, places the work in Balboa
Park in mid-fifties vs. Loma Point
