Description
Recalls and honors a prominent local citizen for his labors and sacrifices during WWII. The memorial design invokes the veteran’s efforts as it recalls the town’s war duties as a U. S.life saving station – it sits aside the Atlantic Ocean and served as a Coast Guard lookout during the country’s world war efforts. Situated now on the site of the Stephen Ludlam American Legion Post 331, the work serves New Jersey’s Seven Mile Island communities of Stone Harbor and Avalon.
