Description
This memorial summons up and pays tribute to those who served in this war against the British, 1812-1815. A bronze bust of a soldier serving in the army at the time, the work is positioned along a Trail of Honor, a memorial tribute to the men and women veterans of Westchester county, New York. Located amongst the greenery of Westchester’s Lasdon Park, a part of the town of Somers, the bust was created by Barbara Close Lepak. It rests atop a cairn in a welcoming, plaza-like presentation. Dedicated November 14, 2004, the memorial was sponsored by county veterans and their organizations, by the public and businesses and, of course, Westchester county.
