Description
This memorial in Rye, New York, honors first responders who sacrificed their lives on September 11, 2001, especially those at the World Trade Center, and also those Rye citizens -- the firefighters’ friends -- whose lives were taken from them that morning. • The plaque memorializing the fallen employs a low-relief sculptured image which combines likenesses of the towers, open fields and the Pentagon. The work’s inscription is positioned alongside the relief • The memorial, sponsored by Rye firefighters, is attached to the side of the firehouse, situated at Locust Avenue and Haviland Lane. • The memorial was dedicated on September 11, 2004.
